Battle of the Mind

The MIND is a powerful force to be reckoned with.  It is the enemy's favorite place to start when he is "prowling around...looking for someone to devour." (1 Peter 5:8)  The mind becomes a battleground and unless we are "self-controlled and alert" to the enemy's MIND GAMES we just might lose the battle.

Last night the enemy was on the move in my house.  I went to bed desperately fearful due to lies he was feeding my mind.  Grayden woke up at 4 am more scared than I've ever seen him because of a dream.  After trying to go back to bed, he kept telling me he "couldn't stop thinking about it." 
We both were in battle with our minds.  We were both being fed lies, lies, lies. 
Here was our 3 Step Battle Plan:
First, we submitted ourselves to God.  We came to Him.
"Submit yourselves to God...Come near to God and he will come near to you." James 4:7
Second, we resisted the enemy.  We took the thoughts captive and told the enemy to GET OUT!
"Resist the devil and he will flee from you." James 4:7
Third, we filled our minds up with truth.  We thought about things that were true and lovely.
"Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things."  Philippians 4:8
We found rest...both in our minds and physical bodies.  Praise the Lord!
The Bible promises that...
"You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trust in You. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the LORD, is the Rock eternal." Isaiah 26:3-4
There will be new battles of the mind.  The enemy will be back.  But my hope and prayer is that when he does both Grayden and I can find peace in our "Rock eternal" by following this three step battle plan again and again.

Join me and let's pray the following over our children:

Lord, may my children be alert to the enemy's mind schemes.  When their thoughts are fearful and full of lies help them to submit their minds to you, to resist the enemy, and to replace those thoughts with lovely and truthful ones.  May they keep their minds steadfast on You and find Your perfect peace.  May they put their trust in You, the Rock eternal, rather than the lies of the enemy.
