Leaving It All On The Field

The boys are playing outdoor soccer this Spring.

They had their first game over the weekend.

They both gave 100%, putting their hearts and souls into the game.

Evidence of their effort included

very muddy knees, and hands...
red, splotchy, sweaty faces...
achiness in their legs from hustle...
and crashing to sleep the minute their heads hit the pillow.

As the sports saying goes, they
"Left It All On The Field."

Their passion and effort on the soccer field mirrors the first and greatest commandment Jesus taught:

"Love the Lord your God with all your HEART and with all your SOUL and with all your MIND and with all your STRENGTH."  Mark 12:29-30

Jesus' words left no room for mediocre passion, little hustle, or partial effort in relationship with God.

He taught that a passionate relationship with God means:

Loving God with all one's HEART...putting Him first above all things; fixing one's eyes and love on Him alone; and making it one's goal to please Him in all things.

Loving God with all one's SOUL...ready to give up one's life for His sake, willing to endure persecutions and to be deprived of all kinds of comforts in order to honor God.

Loving God with all one's submit our intellectual efforts and attainments to His will; to love His law and gospel more than one's own decisions and ideas.

Loving God with all one's exert all the the powers of one's body and soul in service to God; to sacrifice one's time and talents in order to honor God.

And the evidence should speak for itself.

The passion and effort taught in this verse means we will get "dirty, sweaty, achy, and tired."

Relationship with God isn't a day on the beach.

It is an all-out, nothing holding you back, passionate hustle to KNOW and SERVE God.

It requires,
"Leaving It All On The Field!"

Join me today and let's pray the following over our children:

Jesus, I pray that my kids would put their heart, soul, mind, and strength into relationship with You.  I pray they would passionately pursue You with an effort and hustle greater than any they would give elsewhere.  I pray they would "Leave It All On The Field" and hold nothing back from you.  And I pray there would be evidence of their efforts and that others would see You in their lives.

Mark 12:29-30
